2007 Mercedes Benz ML63 AMG

Car 1 !

Lets start with car number one, we saw this car and drove to Preston to see it, once a deal was agreed we set a date two weeks later to collect that car. This was to allow us to take Catherine's personal plate off the E Class and get the amended V5 back, it also allowed the dealer to attend to an uneven idle we had noticed, and to check the car.
Two weeks passed and the Friday came, along with an email to say the car wasn't ready, as the fault was still there! So we set a new date a week later, firstly we got a call to say they had fixed the fault, but were waiting for some replacement stretch bolts from Germany, so the date would need changed. A couple of days later we get a message to say they had got parts and we could now collect. So off we went.

Pickup day

pickup up

The pick up didn't go as smoothly as we wanted. First issue was that the dealer had no V5 documents for the car. The DVLA advise that you never buy a car with no V5, but the dealer assured us that they had ordered one and it would be with us soon, so we progressed with the deal.
Unfortunately after about 15 miles of the journey, on the motorway, the car went into error mode with an ESP error, and no throttle response. A quick stop/start on the hard shoulder cleared that error and replaced it with a check error light. So we had no option than to return to the dealer, via the A roads.
So we returned home with a customer loan car

Loan car

Another week passed and again they claimed they had found the fault, but again the error returned, again they attempted a repair and claimed to have fixed it. As I was on holiday at the time, I said I would come down in 2 day and return the loan car and pick up the ML. Then next day, we had a call, the fault had returned!
By now we were starting to loose faith in both the dealer and the car, so after 5 weeks we decided to reject the car and claim a refund from the dealer.

Car number 2

This left us in the situation of only having the one car, so we started to search again. This led us to a car we had been looking at previously, close to Birmingham. A hastily arranged trip saw us travel down to view the car and arrange purchase.

Pickup day again

An early start saw me fly to Birmingham, followed by a couple of train journeys to the station local to the garage, where they picked me up to get the car.

Pick up day

This time it went smoothly with a stop in Stoke on Trent for some fuel before I started up the M6. Of course it's now become part of the day, with a quick photo stop in Gretna as we crossed the border.
