Started the year by removing the rear number plate and light, replacing it with a Ford Sierra item and at some point a new number plate slightly higher on the rear. There are a few holes that need filled, but these can wait until I start work on the front again.

For a while now I have been toying with the idea of removing and smoothing the front bumper area. After view a few cars that had this done, along with the original Cox style, I decide that I would carry this out.
I also plan to open up the grill area under the bumper at the same time. Stage one was to remove the bonnet, again, and after removing a, surprisingly rust free, nut the bumper was off.

While the bonnet is off, one of the other things that needs attention is the wiring to the front lights, as it is quite exposed, it tends to get bad connections and stops the lights working.
Well it turns out that the light problem lay inside the headlight bowls themselves, a quick clean of the contacts there seemed to have cured the problems.
Turning my attention to filling the gap left by the bumper, I filled the gap with expanding foam, to give a base to work on. This will need a few hours to set, before it can be trimmed tomorrow.
Well after leaving a few hours to set I attacked the foam with an old kitchen knife to trim off the majority, then sanded it below the level required. Then
Followed by
a quick coat of P40 filler to seal it off, ready to be sanded again.

Finished off the month by opening up the grill area, what started off as a simple job, went down hill, when I discovered a layer of metal, sandwiched, in at the front of the car. I'm not sure if a previous owner had bonded in some sort of grill before hand.
Decide to fix the bonnet back onto the car, as a safety measure, as the weather forecast is predicting high winds for the start of February.
